I drove quite a ways "out" to pick these up, I was not dissapointed and I hand selected them all. There are many ways to use iron stakes; you can find information in many traditions.... below are some quick references to uses with Iron in general, add in the forged nail component and you have potency with dedication. Binding, Fixing, Warding, Anchoring, Protecting, Shielding, Healing... and Iron in the form of cauldrons, nails, machetes, chains, spikes (just to name a few)
- Appalachians used in healing, for instance... like “Nailing” a disease into a tree while saying a prayer, then walking away without looking back.
- Hoodoo sees iron as a tool of power and permanence (among many other things)
- Celtic: Iron was believed to repel fmalevolent spirits.
- Norse: Iron was associated with Thor’s hammer and used in burial mounds or doorways to protect from undead or trolls.
- Slavic: Used iron tools in burial practices to ward off vampires and spirits
- African: Iron spikes are used to "nail" or anchor spirits to a place
- Middle Eastern/ Arab folk used iron to ward off djinn and “evil wind.” Hanging iron tools, keys, or even swords over beds was believed to prevent spirit attacks during sleep. Iron nails might be driven into thresholds to seal protective blessings into a home.
